    When the athlete believes characteristics of the training style matter, they do, regardless of the training style. When they don't and instead focus on being prepared, whatever the training characteristics style, they usually fair better psychologically. From a non-cognitive or non-conscious standpoint, the less organized preparer is preparing their mind or getting their mind in the habit of adapting to uncomfortable situations whether they realize it or not. So when the need arises to adapt, the athlete who is less organized doesn't have to think very much and can respond more creatively and quickly. While the more rigid preparer hasn't created the neural pattern of adapting to uncomfortable situations and must think in the moment in order to respond. That's how I analyze it and think about it (with some help 😉). Maybe I'll read the book. But I'm more about imbalance. The way I look at it, nothing happens there's balance. Appropriate inbalance given the situation can move mountains. That's where I live to get things done. Good stuff.

    ?? If Marine Le Pen would have been President of France, then no Olympic Games? I thought that the point of the Olympic Games is *TO PUT POLITICS ASIDE* ..... so maybe rename this thing to *THE POLITICAL GAMES* so that way we know. Anycountries that President Biden/Harris (USA) does not like is AUTOMATICALLY out of the Olympic Games. Maybe put a banner so that it is clear!!??

    I hate that sport is politicized but the fact of the matter is, since the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, it is. Mexico City 1968, Munich 1972, Moscow 1980, Los Angeles 1984, Sochi 2014, etc.. Athletes become the pawns.

    The wrestlers aren't doing what their governments are and you can't tell someone not to support their country. Here's a little story. In 2003, the United States attacked Iraq and ended up killing about 500,000 Iraqis. There was no reason for that attack. It was all based on information the government KNEW to be false at the time. They didn't do 9-11, there was no yellow cake or babies in incubators. It was all BS. Americans supported their troops as they are literally their families. Did the US go to the 2004 Olympics? the 2008 Olympics? Hypocrisy is always hypocrisy.

    No one likes it, but they made the decision not to go. How many decades did they get away with using performance enhancing drugs?? To me they won a lot of the Gold Medals they did because their athletes were using them and the Russian Government did everything in their power to hide and mask this.

  • @AlwaysAlpha88
    @AlwaysAlpha88 Місяць тому

    People need to remember that living in Russia is nothing like living in the US or England or most countries really, their athletes do not have the freedoms ours do! For them it can be like you take this substance and compete or your family does not eat or they send the athlete to jail. We are talking about a country that has made many journalists disappear for writing things against the Russian government and they do not even try to hide it! It is a different world over there and their athletes have to do what they are told or else, and it is not the athletes fault what their government is doing but there is no way they can speak out against it because there is no freedom of speech in Russia! People are so spoiled living here in the US and have no idea what other places are like!

    Ben is missing one big point NBC is pulling the strings not the IOC . NBC pays the bill it’s their Olympics. They hate the male toxic sport of wrestling.Thats why they tried to get rid of it. They cut the weights to 6. The only reason they’ve held back is because of women’s wrestling. NBC HATES Putin. They will not let him bask in 2 or 3 Gold medalists.So they attack the innocent athletes. Vindictive bastards, boycott the NBC Olympics!!

    A point I might add about the U.S. Going to Vietnam, vs Russia “visiting” Ukraine is that Vietnam was fairly split among U.S. involvement in the war. 95% of Ukrainians want Russia out. You could ask the same question for Afghanistan and Iraq too and your answer would be the same. Russia isn’t in Ukraine for liberation.

      @@billpryor8764Although I’d agree with you about Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan, you’re wrong about Ukraine. Russia invaded Ukraine. Is there competition between Russia and the U.S.? Absolutely. But, Putin’s excuse that the west wants take over Russia by being on its borders is silly. There are nato countries on Russia’s borders and now, because of the invasion, there are even more. Let’s also not forget that Russia’s alley China, has many of the same goals. Undermine western democracies and increase economic and military dominance. The fact is that the majority of Ukrainians want nothing to do with Russia.

    Ben being very prophetic, and it turns out very accurate. Too bad he has no interest in becoming a college head coach. He's a smart dude. I wouldn't worry about Coleman Scott. He will eventually be offered a head coaching job, or an assistant coach at a high level program because of who he is. When he took the job at OSU he stated that he was not told he would be the next head coach. He said John Smith and he only talked a little about that before he accepted the job. But in reality, no one leaves head coaching job to be an assistant coach unless they expect to be the next head coach. And most fans realized John Smith was looking tired and not having high level success lately, so his time at OSU was about over.
